Mokupāpapa Discovery Center

Free NOAA museum dedicated to the Northwestern Hawaiian Islands and the Papahānaumokuākea Marine National Monument — one of the largest marine protected areas on Earth. Features a large saltwater aquarium, interactive exhibits on coral reefs, Hawaiian culture, and ocean science, plus live performances and a theater. Right on Kamehameha Avenue in downtown Hilo. Tuesday through Saturday only — closed Sunday and Monday.
